Poetry: GOD OF WAR –Amy Lawless

GOD OF WAR

I like you
& want to be you
so I am prepared to die
in this nothing atmosphere
which offers no protection
I’m prepared for worship
in the middle of this war
I’m prepared
And I am prepared for the rat king,
a hairy snarl of body parts, giant pulsating and decaying,
spreading disease?

I am? Yeah, I guess I am.

Why, similar putridity exists in ideas and in certain close communities.
A physical version is almost easier to handle.

Zero planets were founded on the ideals of justice and equality.
In fact, a planet isn’t founded at all.

God makes great pizza.
